Brazil’s Log Exports Increase 186% Year-Over-Year in September 2021
According to Lesprom Analytics, the export of logs from Brazil jumped 186.0% year-over-year in September 2021 to 357.6 thousand m3. The value of those exports increased 224.3% to $27.6 million. The average price of logs increased 13.4% to $77.3 per m3.
Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Increased 41.4% Year-Over-Year in August 2021
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the value of Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) increased 41.4% in value year-over-year from US$292.5 million in August 2020 to US$413.6 million in August 2021.

Vietnam is reporting the wood and wood product (W&WP) exports during the first seven months of 2021 reached US$9.26 billion, up 54% year-over-year (July 2020 to July 2021). Vietnam imported US$1.81 billion of W&WP in the first 7 months of 2021, up 39% against the same period of 2020.

A deal between South Pacific Shipping (SPS) and Oldendorff Carriers has been finalized. “A Post-Panamax will carry underdeck twice the volume of a conventional logger but will not require any fumigation by Methyl Bromide as no logs will be carried on deck.”

Australian Government to Provide $15.1 Million Freight Subsidy to Transport Logs off of Kangaroo Island
The Australian government is set to provide a $15.1 million (A$) freight subsidy to companies transporting logs off of Kangaroo Island. The subsidy will aid in the movement of salvaged logs from bushfire-affected plantations on Kangaroo Island to sawmills, on the South Australian mainland, that currently have immediate capacity to process logs into structural timbers.
