Wingspan Event and Conference Center in Hillsboro Oregon has been Completed Using Glulam and CLT Construction Design

The 89,000-square-foot Wingspan Event and Conference Center in Hillsboro Oregon has been completed, consistent with national and local safety precautions during the pandemic. The project features a glulam and CLT “butterfly roof” structure over steel-framed galleries and circulation areas, designed by LRS Architects and structural engineer IMEG.

Softwood Lumber Board Announces Addition of Industry Veteran Nick Milestone

The Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) has announced that Nick Milestone, has joined the SLB to support its mission in the area of strategic partnership and adoption of mass timber construction in the U.S. Milestone is a veteran of the European and United Kingdom mass timber markets and is the current chairman of the Timber Research and Development Trade Association (TRADA).

The American Wood Council Reports Successfully Completing Two Full-Scale CLT Diaphragm Tests

The American Wood Council (AWC) is reporting that they have successfully completed two full-scale cross laminated timber (CLT) diaphragm tests at Weyerhaeuser’s ISO 17025 accredited test facility in Federal Way Washington. The tests will provide strength and deformation data important for the evaluating CLT diaphragm resistance to lateral wind and earthquake forces.
