Kelowna B.C. International Airport Soon to be Home of First-Ever Mass Timber Aircraft Hangar

Kelowna B.C. officials have announced that the Kelowna International Airport wills soon be home to the first-ever mass timber aircraft hangar. The two-story structure will be using state-of-the-art floor and tall wall wood-based systems to accommodate the large spacing between columns — a typical design element for a hangar but never done using mass timber building systems.

Like the wildfires which burned through a large portion of Oregon’s forests this past Labor Day, which included the loss of an estimated 63,000 acres of family forests. The dilemma for the smaller and private forest owners is that seedlings are extremely hard to find.

Private Residential Construction Spending Slips in February

Further analysis of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Construction Spending data provided by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reveals that total private residential construction spending dropped -0.2% in February 2021 to a seasonally adjust annual rate (SAAR) of $718 billion, down slightly from January’s record high level.
