Weyerhaeuser announced acquisitions totaling 84,300 acres of high-quality timberlands in Alabama for $244 million.

The Oregon Department of Forestry released its finalized Annual Operations Plans (AOP) that describe the variety of projects planned for state forests for the fiscal year 2025.

BC officials said the wildfire situation in the province is “rapidly evolving,” telling residents they may see more evacuation orders and alerts in the coming days, CBC News reported.

As of Monday, July 22nd, 66 large active wildfires are being managed and have burned 1,125,770 acres. The National Wildfire Preparedness Level has been raised to a 5 out of 5.

The new AAC for the TFL is 56,100 cubic meters. This is a 30% reduction from the previous AAC.

Alberta Wildfire has reported another 47 wildfire starts in the past 24 hours as 150 wildfires burn across the province, according to CBC News.

The Oregon State Fire Marshal and the Oregon Department of Forestry announced that they are bringing in out-of-state firefighters and equipment to help fight several wildfires.

Overall, this wildfire season is far less severe than the record-setting year in 2023, but the risk for new fires is still high, particularly for BC, Yukon, and Northwest Territories.

As of Monday, 11 new wildfires were reported nationwide. Currently, 62 large active wildfires are being managed and have burned 902,253 acres.
