Kalesnikoff Opens New Modular Mass Timber Production Facility in Castlegar, BC
On June 5, Kalesnikoff Mass Timber formally opened its new 100,000 sq. ft. modular mass timber facility in Castlegar, BC, to expand its mass timber products for use in multi-story affordable and market housing, schools, workforce housing, and other infrastructure.
The new facility complements Kalesnikoff’s existing mass timber operation in nearby South Slocan, adding new products and services including prefabricated wall panels, mass timber modules, trusses, and other products designed and manufactured for its clients’ unique needs and construction efficiency.
In a statement, Kalesnikoff Chief Operating Officer Chris Kalesnikoff said:
“Our expanding line of mass timber products and expertise will help our current and future clients meet the need for cost-effective, efficient building design and construction that will create sustainable, comfortable, climate-resilient homes and buildings. Growth of mass timber will require healthy, sustainable forests and ongoing and increased fiber availability from provincial regulators for these value-added products.”
Krystle Seed, Chief Financial Officer, added:
“This new facility represents a significant CA$30 million investment for Kalesnikoff, and we are thankful to Natural Resources Canada’s (NR Can) Investments’ Forest Industry Transformation program for contributing CA$3 million to infrastructure and equipment, and to the Province of British Columbia’s Manufacturing Jobs Fund for CA$6.725 million to help fund the approximately 100 new BC jobs that this is creating.”
