Court-Appointed Receiver Continues Sale of Allegheny Wood Products Sawmills

Allegheny Wood Products (AWP) is continuing to sell its hardwood sawmills and kilns in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, Hardwood Floors Magazine reported (1-2-25). AWP was placed under court-appointed receivership on March 6, 2024, and since then, a receiver has been selling its assets.

With 13 facilities in the Appalachian Hardwood Region at its height, AWP employed more than 800 individuals and had sawmill capacity of approximately 160 MMBF and a dry kiln capacity of approximately 86 MMBF. AWP exported to more than 20 different countries in addition to its domestic sales.

The remaining assets are as follows:

  • Kingwood, West Virginia, sawmill—total annual capacity 24 MMBF
  • Cowen, West Virginia, sawmill—total annual capacity 24 MMBF
  • Jacksonburg, West Virginia, sawmill—total annual capacity 5 MMBF
  • Beckley, West Virginia, sawmill and kilns—total annual capacity 28 MMBF lumber and 14 MMBF kilns
  • Princeton, West Virginia, sawmill and kilns—total annual capacity 26 MMBF lumber and 19 MMBF kilns
  • Marble, Pennsylvania, kiln—9 dry kilns with total annual capacity of 12 MMBF (currently inoperable)

In addition to these assets, vehicles, excess equipment, oil and gas mineral rights, excess property and land, and stumpage are also available for sale.
