US Wood Pellet Exports Up Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in March

According to data released by United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service and analysis by Biomass Magaine (5-5-23), the US exported 909,787.1 metric tons of wood pellets in March. This is up from 632,043.8 metric tons of wood pellets in February and from 801,396.3 metric tons in March 2022.
The US exported wood pellets to more than 18 different countries in March. The UK was the top destination for US wood pellet exports in March at 366,797.5 metric tons, followed by the Netherlands at 256,477.6 metric tons and Japan at 102,742.0 metric tons.
The value of US wood pellet exports reached $169.43 million in March, up from $117.99 million in February and $127.33 million in March 2022.
Total US wood pellet exports for the first three months of 2023 reached 2.18 million metric tons at a value of $402.08 million, compared to 2.09 million metric tons at a value of $312.69 million during the same period in 2022.
