Metsä Group to Construct New Kerto® LVL Mill in Äänekoski, Finland

Metsä Group announced Wednesday (6-14-23) that it has decided to invest approximately EUR 300 million to construct a new Kerto® LVL mill in Äänekoski, Finland, to produce beams and panel products used in the construction industry.

The new Kerto mill will have an annual production capacity of approximately 160,000 cubic meters, which represents a 50% increase in Metsä Group’s total Kerto LVL capacity. Kerto LVL production primarily serves the construction industry in the European market.

According to the press release, the new Kerto LVL mill will be located on the Äänekoski integrated mill site, which harnesses synergies such as energy production, logistics, and mill services. The integrated mills can utilize 100% of the side streams resulting from the production of Kerto LVL, creating maximum added value from the valuable raw material.
