Koskisen Launches Investment Program for Plywood Production in Järvelä, Finland
Finland’s Koskisen, an international wood processing specialist with more than a century of experience, recently announced the launch of a comprehensive investment program aimed at enhancing plywood production at its panel mill in Järvelä.
The initiative will enable volume growth, streamline production, and improve internal logistics, the company said. The planned investments also include the automation of various production stages.
The investment program will span Koskisen’s strategic period, extending until the end of 2027. The first phase of the program will be implemented in 2025, with the total value of related investments amounting to approximately EUR 12 million.
In the first phase, the focus is on developing veneer production. The plywood mill produces tailor-made and high-quality birch plywood products for light and heavy transport vehicles, die cutting tools, interior decoration, and furniture. The largest customer segments are the automotive, transportation, construction, and furniture industries.
Director of Panel in Industry for Koskisen, Tom-Peter Helenius, said:
“The key objective of the investment program is to improve the productivity, quality, and yield of plywood production. As a result of the program, the plywood production capacity will increase from the current 65,000 m3 to 85,000 m3. This requires significant development and investment in the machinery base.”
