Construction Labor Market Tightens A Little
A closer look at the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) report released on Tuesday, with analysis provided by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), shows that the count of open construction sector jobs in November remained lower than a year earlier.
According to NAHB, the number of open construction sector jobs increased from a revised 259,000 in October to 276,000 in November. However, the November count of unfilled positions was still lower than the 454,000 recorded a year ago.
The construction job openings rate edged slightly higher to 3.2% in November, but it remains lower than a year ago, albeit with a fair amount of variability in recent data.
The layoff rate in construction remained stable at around 2.1% in November, while the quits rate fell to 1.7%.
