Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Decline Year-Over-Year in April

According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) fell 9.0% in value year-over-year in April, from US$336.3 million in April 2023 to $306.7 million in April 2024.

Pine sawnwood exports declined 18% in value, from $59.5 million in April 2023 to $48.7 million in April 2024. In volume, exports dropped 17.0%, from 264,000 m3 to 219,500 m3.

Tropical sawnwood exports tumbled 17.6% in volume, from 29,000 m3 April 2023 to 23,900 m3 in April 2024. In terms of value, exports fell 34.8%, from US $15.5 million to US $10.1 million.

Pine plywood exports increased 15.0% in value year-over-year, from $59.4 million in April 2023 to $68.1 million in April 2024. In volume, exports increased 10.0%, from 179,900 m3 in April 2023 to 197,700 m3 in April 2024.

Tropical plywood exports declined 13.0% in volume and 12.0% in value, from 3,000 m3 and $1.7 million in April 2023 to 2,600 m3 and $1.5 million in April 2024.

The value of wooden furniture exports decreased from $47.1 million in April 2023 to US $45.5 million in April 2024—a 3.0% decline.
