Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s newest and tallest mass timber building, the Amy Gutmann Hall at the University of Pennsylvania, was officially dedicated on Friday, Wood Central reported (9-30-24).
Amy Gutmann Hall is a six-story, 116,000-square-foot building set to open in January. The building was designed by Texas-based Lake Flato Architects and KSS Architects. The project first broke ground in October 2021.
The building was made from 82 truckloads of timber and its hybrid CLT system helps reduce the structure’s overall carbon footprint by more than 52% relative to concrete and 41% relative to steel, KSS Architects said.
