Leading Italian and German Particleboard Company Joins Forces

The Saviola Group (Italy) and Nolte Holzwekstoff Gmbh & Co, Kg (Germany, known on the market as Rheinspan) have agreed to merge. The Saviola Group is the leading particleboard company in Italy and one of the world’s most significant wood recyclers with 13 plants and over 1500 employees.  Nolte Holzwerkstoff is the oldest family-owned particleboard manufacturer in the world, producing particleboard for 69 years.
The merger is aimed at combining the expertise of two large companies to develop a new approach that combines design, circular economy and sustainability at Nolte Holzwerkstoff’s Germersheim plant. In 2019, investments were made in wood recycling at the Germersheim plant. Next year a new melamine press is expected and should allow higher quality production and design.
