Teamsters Canada Delivers Strike Notice to CPKC; CN Delivers Lockout Notice
On Monday, FreightWaves reported that the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference on Sunday served a 72-hour strike notice to Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), saying the union will walk out at 12:01 AM on Thursday, August 22nd, barring a last-minute labor agreement.
CPKC has said it would institute a lockout at the same time on Thursday, August 22nd. Canadian National Railway (CN) announced it had delivered a formal 72-hour lockout notice, following up on plans it had announced on August 9th for a lockout.
The 72-hour notifications are required under Canadian law.
Both sides continue to blame the other for the lack of progress in negotiations.
