President Trump Confirms 25% Tariffs on Canadian and Mexican Imports Start March 4
On Monday, President Donald Trump confirmed that 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada would start Tuesday, March 4, The Associated Press reported (3-3-25).
“Tomorrow—tariffs 25% on Canada and 25% on Mexico. And that’ll start,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “They’re going to have to have a tariff.”
In February, Trump put a 10% tariff on imports from China. He reemphasized Monday that the rate would be doubling to 20% on Tuesday.
Canadian energy products, such as oil and electricity, will face a lower 10% rate.
