US National Interagency Fire Center Wildfire Update as of February 14

The US National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported that as of Friday, February 14, five large new wildfires were reported this week. Wildland firefighters and support personnel have been able to contain three of the five wildfires.

The National Fire Preparedness Level remains at a 1 out of 5.

Daily Statistics

As of Friday morning, there were a total of 5 large wildfires burning, one each in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Mississippi, and New Mexico. There are 6,893 acres actively burning and wildland firefighters and support personnel have been able to contain 3 of the wildfires, two of which are being fought under full suppression strategies.

The NIFC is providing these comparative statistics:

  • Year-to-date through February 14, 3,628 wildfires have been reported, and they have burned 87,142 acres.
  • During the same period last year, 1,968 wildfires were reported, and they had burned 12,003 acres.
  • The 10-year average (2015–24) for the same time period is 2,926 wildfires and 54,0847 acres burned.
