Canada Funds 12 Forest Sector Transformation Projects in Quebec

On Tuesday, Canada announced more than CA$17 million for 12 forest-sector transformation projects across Quebec.

The funding is intended to help the sector respond to tariffs, fiber supply constraints, shifting global markets, and climate change. The projects will support low-carbon technologies, Indigenous participation, higher-value wood manufacturing, and export market diversification.

Major awards include $5.8 million for the Quebec Wood Export Bureau’s market diversification project, $4.5 million for Xylo-carbone Inc.’s biocarbon composite project, $3.5 million for LVL Global Inc.’s automated production line, and $1.9 million for Celluforce Inc.’s production process improvements.

Additional funding will support the Tackipotcikan mill, Pépinière Forestière Tshitassinu, First Nations forestry coordination, sustainable forest management planning, and the implementation of the Innu Assi Land Management Plan.
