On Wednesday, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand fell 0.3% in June on a seasonally adjusted basis. This followed increases of 0.6% in May and 1.1% in April.
On an unadjusted basis, the index was up 5.5% over the 12 months ending in June.
The monthly decline was driven by a 1.4% decrease in prices for final demand goods, while prices for final demand services rose 0.2%.
The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.1% after increasing 0.8% in May. Year-over-year, the measure was up 5.1%.
