BC Invests CA$155 Million in Reforestation and Wildfire Recovery
Planting 125 million more trees in B.C.
On Tuesday, British Columbia announced a CA$155 million investment to support reforestation programs that will plant more than 125 million trees across the province. Combined with more than CA$200 million in federal funding, total support for the initiative exceeds CA$355 million.
The funding will support large-scale reforestation efforts and targeted projects aimed at restoring critical wildlife habitat, conserving biodiversity, and advancing recovery from wildfires.
The investment builds on the province’s annual Forest Investment Program, which provides approximately CA$95 million each year to support long-term forest sustainability and health.
Commenting on the announcement, BC Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar said:
“Since 2017, we’ve invested in planting 400 million trees in BC. Now, we’re adding 125 million more. As we head into the Council of Canadian Forest Ministers Conference, hosted right here at home, we’re showing how BC continues to lead not only in forestry, but in reforestation and restoration. We’re securing the future of our forests and forestry jobs for generations to come.”
