ADP: Private Sector Employment and Compensation Increase in May

According to the ADP National Employment Report released on Wednesday, private sector employment increased by 122,000 jobs in May. Year-over-year, pay rose 4.4%.

The jobs report and pay insights use ADP’s fine-grained anonymized and aggregated payroll data to provide a representative picture of the private-sector labor market. The report is based on weekly payroll data from more than 26 million private-sector employees across the US, while ADP’s Pay Insights captures more than 15 million individual pay change observations each month.

Commenting on the report, ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson said:

“Hiring was more broad-based in May than we’ve seen in the last few years. The labor market continues to show sustained momentum going into the summer hiring season.”
