EGGER Wood Products’ New Lexington, NC, Recycling Center Allows Manufacturing of Wood-Based Materials Using Recycled Wood and Biomass
New recycling center allows EGGER to manufacture with recycled wood
The Davidson County, NC, Dispatch is reporting that EGGER Wood Products’ (and its parent company, the EGGER Group, a leading manufacturer of wood-based materials) new recycling center in Lexington, North Carolina, is now fully operational and moving towards fulfilling its commitment to producing sustainable materials for interior design and furniture applications.
The EGGER Wood Products of Lexington investment offers architects, designers, and millworkers an option for US-made, thermally fused laminate and particleboard, made with up to 15% post-consumer recycled wood.
Markus Frevert, plant manager for production at the Lexington facility, told the Dispatch that most of the wood materials in the company’s US-produced board is waste from sawmill residues and pre-consumer recycled materials. “With the addition of our $41 million recycle center, up to 15% of the wood chips used are post-consumer recycled material. Only about 7% come from harvest timber, sourced from sustainably managed forest.”
