The Pensacola News Journal reported Wednesday (6-7-23) that West Fraser Timber Company is in the process of planning a multi-million-dollar (USD) expansion at its McDavid, Florida, sawmill. The expansion is reportedly worth in excess of $62 million and will reportedly create 30 new jobs.
To support their investment, West Fraser has asked the Escambia County commissioners to support a tax break. According to the Pensacola News Journal, the issue is on the agenda for this Thursday’s commission meeting. The board is being asked to adopt a resolution showing their support for an ordinance that would allow an Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption for West Fraser for up to 10 years.
