Baltimore’s Blueprint Robotics Announces Plans to Build Second Component Plant in Windsor, CT

Baltimore, Maryland-based Blueprint Robotics, which manufactures wood frame components used in the construction of multifamily housing, has announced its intention to build a second components production facility in Windsor, Connecticut, according to “CT Insider” (3-30-23).

Once the plant is fully functional, it will fabricate mass timber components and large-scale cross-laminated timber. The company’s Baltimore location is currently running at full capacity.

Citing Blueprint Robotics CEO Jerry Smalley, “CT Insider” says the 450,000-square-foot facility will be the largest industrial building constructed entirely out of mass timber in North America. It will create approximately 120 jobs in the area and increase Blueprint’s capacity by 250%.

Smalley has said the 62-acre lot selected for Blueprint is currently vacant. He expects the new facility will cost $97 million to design and construct, according to the report. Smally hopes to break ground in June or July and have construction finished sometime in 2024Q3.
