US Wood Pellet Exports Increase in September
USDA: US wood pellet exports top 898,128 metric tons in September
The US exported 898,128.2 metric tons of wood pellets in September, up from 775,296.1 metric tons in August and from 797,296.4 metric tons in September 2023, a Biomass Magazine review (11-5-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.
The US exported wood pellets to approximately 16 countries in September. The UK was the top destination for exports at 573,006.6 metric tons, followed by the Netherlands at 128,208.9 metric tons and Japan at 92,064 metric tons.
The value of wood pellet exports reached $167.15 million in September, up from both $136.6 million in August and from $147.55 million in September 2023.
Total wood pellet exports for the first three quarters of 2024 reached 7.41 million metric tons at value of $1.38 billion, compared to 7.07 million metric tons at a value of $1.3 billion during the same period last year.
