C&C Forest Products Invests $21 Million to Rebuild Louisiana Sawmill Destroyed by Fire
On Thursday, C&C Forest Products—an independent Southern pine lumber producer with sawmills in Coushatta, Louisiana, and Carthage, Arkansas—announced it is investing more than $21 million to rebuild its Coushatta sawmill following a 2025 fire.
The project will reconfigure the existing facility with updated equipment and an improved site layout designed to support more efficient production. Once complete, the rebuilt mill will focus on specialty lumber and timbers and will be capable of producing up to 90 million board feet annually.
C&C said the investment is expected to create 77 direct jobs with an average annual salary of $65,260, while retaining 27 existing positions. According to Louisiana Economic Development, the project could also generate an additional 256 indirect jobs, bringing the total potential employment impact to 333 jobs across the region.
Construction is expected to begin in the first half of 2026, with the facility anticipated to begin sales in 2027Q1.
To secure the project, Louisiana offered C&C FP Holdings, LLC a package that includes workforce development support through LED FastStart and a $1 million performance-based grant for utility and infrastructure improvements. The company is also expected to participate in the state’s Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
