Canfor Opens New State-of-the-Art Sawmill in Axis, AL

Canfor Southern Pine recently held an opening ceremony for its new $210 million state-of-the-art sawmill complex in Axis, Alabama, WALA reported (2-11-25).

The facility, designed to incorporate cutting-edge technology and advanced manufacturing, has a production capacity of 250 million board feet per year. It also features a biomass-fueled lumber drying system to support the company’s sustainability and decarbonization goals.

Once fully operational, the sawmill will employ 130 people. The project was first announced in July 2022.
