Potential Agreement Reached to End Seven-Week Weyerhaeuser Strike in Oregon and Washington

Springfield Oregon Television station KVAL-13, a CBS affiliate, reported on Friday (10-21-22) that progress toward ending a strike between Weyerhaeuser workers and the company, in Oregon and Washington, might be nearing an end. The progress comes after a federal mediator was brought in to oversee the negotiations last week. KVAL is reporting a new offer has been submitted to the union, and the union’s officials have agreed to it.

The offer is scheduled for a ratification vote by rank-and-file union members on Tuesday (10-25-22), and the outcome is due to be announced on Thursday (10-27-22).

If approved by the union, the 4-year agreement will bring a nearly 7-week strike by workers to an end. Weyerhaeuser has not commented on the agreement.
