Statistics Canada (StatsCan) reported on Friday (8-12-22) that lumber production in Canada increased 7.2% month-over-month (April 2022 to May 2022) to 4,649.5 thousand cubic meters. However, year-over-year production (May 2021 to May 2022) was down 5.3%.
In May 2022, Canadian sawmills shipped 4,612.1 thousand cubic meters of lumber. That is 7.9% greater than April of 2022 but down 7.0% when compared to May of 2021.
