Versowood Group to Purchase Kissakoski Sawmill from Veisto Oy
Versowood to acquire Kissakoski sawmill in Finland
Versowood Group, Finland’s largest private sawmill and processor, has announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the business, equipment, and buildings of the Kissakoski sawmill owned by Veisto Oy. The transaction expected to be completed and close by July 2022.
The Kissakoski sawmill has approximately 20 employees and processes “small logs” 8–16 cm in diameter with an annual production of 120,000 m3.
Versowood Group intends for the Kissakoski sawmill to continue to process small logs, which they say will increase the efficiency of at the company’s other sawmills in Otava, Vierumäki, and Hankasalmi, where the average tree size will increase. Small log processing creates a large number of boards and beams needed by the packaging industry.
Commenting on the purchase of the Kissakoski sawmill, Ville Kopra, CEO of Versowood Group said, “The acquisition strengthens the Versowood Group’s position as Finland’s largest private sawmill and processor. This deal is a great thing for our existing entity. It will strengthen our position in the wood market and increase the efficiency of sawing in our other units, as well as ensure the raw materials needed by the packaging industry.”
