US Wood Pellet Exports Increase Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in June 2022

According to data released on Thursday (8-4-22) by the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service, the US exported 832,092.2 metric tons of wood pellets in June, up month-over-month from May’s 740,605.0 metric tons of wood pellets. It is also up year-over-year from 603,794.9 metric tons in June 2021.

The US exported wood pellets to more than 12 different countries in June. The UK was the top destination for US wood pellet exports at 518,904.3 metric tons, followed by the Netherlands at 249,065.0 metric tons and the French West Indies at 36,019.5 metric tons.

The value of US wood pellet exports reached $141.32 million in June. That is up from both May’s $131.78 and $82.97 million in June of 2021.

Total US wood pellet exports for the first half of 2022 (January – June) reached 4.32 million metric tons at a value of $731.2 million, compared to 3.58 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $514.83 million.
