US Wood Pellet Exports Increase Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in December
USDA: US Wood Pellet Exports Reach 9.54 Million Metric Tons In 2023
The US exported 1.10 million metric tons of wood pellets in December, a Biomass Magazine review (2-8-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows. This is up from 655,649.2 metric tons in November and from 939,453.1 metric tons in December 2022.
The US exported wood pellets to approximately 16 different countries in December. The UK was the top destination for exports at 653,970.7 metric tons, followed by Japan at 130,830.2 metric tons and Denmark at 126,693.8 metric tons.
The value of US wood pellet exports rose to $181.34 million in December, up from $116.84 million in November and from $157.95 million in December 2022.
Total US wood pellet exports in all of 2023 reached 9.54 million metric tons at a value of $1.75 billion, compared to 9.01 million metric tons at a value of $1.56 billion in 2022.
