US Wood Pellet Exports Increase in July

The US exported 874,596.1 metric tons of wood pellets in June, up from 739,277.2 metric tons in June and from 651,698.8 metric tons in July 2023, a Biomass Magazine review (9-4-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.

The US exported wood pellets to approximately a dozen countries in July. The UK was the top destination for wood pellet exports at 668,162.4 metric tons, followed by Japan at 103,367.4 metric tons and the Netherlands at 63,663 metric tons.

The value of US wood pellet exports reached $156.44 million in July, up from $145.2 million in the previous month and from $112.86 million in July 2023.

Total US wood pellet exports for the first seven months of 2024 reached 5.74 million metric tons at a value of $1.08 billion, compared to 5.27 million metric tons at a value of $974.33 million during the same period of last year.
