US Wood Pellet Exports Down Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in January

According to data released on Wednesday (3-8-23) by United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service and reporting by Biomass Magazine (3-9-23), the US exported 637,518.4 metric tons of wood pellets in January. This is down from 917,175.4 metric tons in December 2022 as well as 655,656.5 metric tons in January 2022.

The US exported wood pellets to more than 17 different countries in January. The UK was the top destination for US wood pellet exports in January at 348,277.4 metric tons, followed by the Netherlands at 89,948 metric tons and Belgium-Luxembourg at 64,554.9 metric tons.

The value of US wood pellet exports reached $114.66 million in January, down from $152.95 million in December 2022 but up from $102.65 million in January 2022.
