US Ports See Increase in Russian Plywood Shipments

Shipments of Russian plywood into US ports rose sharply in February, climbing 42% year-over-year to 11,300 m3, Wood Central reported (4-4-26).

The rebound follows a more than 23% drop in volumes late last year, marking February one of the strongest single-month recoveries in recent periods. The US remains Russia’s third-largest export market for plywood, behind Thailand and China.

Large volumes of Russian birch plywood are also reaching the US through third-party ports in Vietnam and Indonesia, according to the US Decorative Hardwoods Association.
