Stora Enso Completes Negotiations on Permanent Closure of Gruvön CLT Production Line

On Thursday, Stora Enso announced that it has completed negotiations on the permanent closure of its CLT production unit at Gruvön in Sweden. The unit will close by the end of 2026, affecting approximately 80 positions.

Stora Enso announced plans to discontinue CLT production at Gruvön in September. The company cited slower-than-expected market growth, increasing wood costs, and relatively high fixed production costs that have continued to pressure profitability.

Following the closure decision, negotiations regarding the impact on personnel will continue. No redundancies will be implemented until these negotiations have concluded.

Stora Enso, Europe’s largest CLT producer, will continue serving customers from its production facilities in Ždírec, Czech Republic, and Ybbs and Bad St. Leonhard, Austria. Sawn goods deliveries from Gruvön will continue as usual.
