Russia was China’s Main Sawn Softwood Lumber Supplier in 2019

China’s main supplier of softwood lumber in 2019 was Russia. Imports from Russia increased 9% to 17.03 million cubic meters and accounted for 60% of China’s national total. However, according to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) that actually reflected a 3% decline year-on-year. Other softwood lumber country suppliers also experienced significant increases in their sales to China. Belarus increased by 393%, Germany increased by 349%. Sweden increased by 136%, and the Ukraine by 101%. While a US-China trade conflict caused US imports to fall 34%.
