Poland Halts Logging in 10 of Its Oldest Forests

On Monday, Poland announced that it had ordered a state-run company that manages more than 7 million hectares of the country’s forests to halt logging in the 10 oldest areas, Reuters reported (1-8-23).

A total of 1.5% of the woodlands managed by state forests will be affected. The decision is in place six months but will be followed by broader changes that will further limit logging in such woodlands, according to Reuters.
