Metsä Group Suspends Wood Production Operations at their Svir Sawmill in Russia

Metsä Group, the Helsinki, Finland-based forest industry group, has announced that it has suspended all wood production operations at their Svir sawmill in Russia. The Metsä Svir sawmill produces sawn timber for a range of industries.

Approximately 95 percent of the Svir sawmill’s production is exported. The sawmill was established by Metsä Fibre in 2006.

The company has also discontinued wood procurement in Russia for the Svir sawmill and imports to Metsä Groups Finnish and Swedish mills have also been discontinued.
