Wildfire Destroys Sawmill and Lumberyard in Idaho
Clover Fire burns 30 acres near Naples
A fast-moving wildfire has scorched roughly 30 acres in Boundary County, Idaho, causing millions of dollars in damage to two family-run logging operations, the Bonner County Daily Bee reported (7-15-25).
The Clover Fire was 75% contained by Monday afternoon, about 24 hours after it began, according to an Idaho Department of Lands official. Full containment was expected by evening. Firefighting resources included 80 personnel, 10 engines, nine water tenders, and two excavators. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Most of the damage occurred on adjacent properties owned by the Sandelin and Tweet families. The Sandelins operate UTR Land Management, a small logging business, and the Tweets run SGA Cabin & Timber.
According to a source in the Sandelin family, losses at their lumberyard—including a destroyed sawmill and barn, more than 300 truckloads of lumber, and industrial machinery—will amount to millions of dollars.
