Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Increase Year-Over-Year in January
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the value of Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) increased 13.0% year-over-year in January, from US$266.6 million in January 2023 to US$300.3 million in January 2024.
Pine sawnwood exports increased 8.5% in value, from US$44.6 million in January 2023 to US$48.4 million in January 2024. In volume, exports increased by 16.0%, from 192,400 m3 to 222,400 m3 during the same time period.
Tropical sawnwood exports declined 16.0% in volume, from 29,500 m3 in January 2023 to 24,700 m3 in January 2024. Meanwhile, exports fell 28.0% in value, from US$15.7 million to US$11.3 million.
Pine plywood exports increased almost 4.0% in value, from US$56.2 million in January 2023 to US$58.2 million in January 2023. However, in terms of volume, exports decreased from 189,500 m3 in January 2023 to 188,600 m3 in January 2024.
Tropical plywood exports declined 51.0% in volume and 39.0% in value, from 3,500 m3 and US$1.8 million in January 2023 to 1,700 m3 and US$1.1 million in January 2024.
The value of wooden furniture exports increased from US$34.6 million in January 2023 to US$38.6 million in January 2024—a 12.0% increase.
