Belarus increases exports of sawn timber by almost 40%
Belarusian sawn timber exports expanded in January, Belarus 1, a state-owned television channel, reported (2-11-24).
Alexander Kulik, Minister of Forestry of Belarus, said Belarus has increased exports of sawn timber by almost 40% over the past year. The growth is due to a reorientation toward the markets of “friendly countries.”
In a statement to Belarus 1, Kulik said, “In January, we supplied about 85,000 [m3 of] sawn timber for export. Last year in January, it was 63,000 [m3]. We supply round timber.”
Kulik noted that Belarus is actively introducing new technologies in forestry, including timber harvesting and processing, to strengthen the material and technical base.
