Belarus’ Lumber Exports Have Increased Seven-Fold to Russia

The Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), a state-owned national news agency of the Republic of Belarus, reports that Belarus’ lumber exports to Russia have increased more than seven times.

According to Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the Federal Forestry Agency of Russia, Russian Center of Forest Health (Roslesozashchita) and the Russian forest management center (Roslesinforg), lower export prices for lumber and a significant strengthening of the Russian ruble has bolstered demand for Belarusian lumber in Russia. Demand in other Asian and Middle Eastern markets is also reportedly strong.
