Mjölk Architekti Completes New Wooden Headquarters for Kloboucká lesní

Kloboucká lesní, a management company for sustainable forestry located in Brumov-Bylnice, Czech Republic, has a new wooden headquarters designed by the Czech architectrual practice of Mjölk Architekti, according to the Wood Architecture Community (3-23-23). The 1,034-square meter building is constructed predominately of glue laminated timber, which were manufactured approximately 100 meters from the construction site.

The building features a large triangular space where all program elements are distributed in four levels, the building was designed to adhere to the principles of sustainable design and demonstrate the potential of sustainable construction.

The load-bearing structure is made exclusively from timber. Considering the environmental and sustainable principles, with the reduction of carbon emissions during construction, the studio produced the materials on-site in the Kloboucká lesní production hall located a hundred meters away.

Speaking of the building and its design, Mjölk Architekti told Wood Architecture Community, “Wood is the oldest and the simplest of materials, but the production process is very modern.”
