Hybrid Timber Tower Proposed for Perth, Australia
‘Pioneering’ Timber Highrise Revealed for Perth CBD
A proposed hybrid timber tower is set to bring 351 apartments, 64 short-stay units, and retail spaces to Perth, Australia, The Urban Developer reported (1-8-25). Designed by Rothelowman and submitted by developer Erben, the project aims to integrate nature and community while addressing rising building costs.
The latest proposal would use hybrid CLT construction and, according to the development application from Urbis, was “designed to enhance livability and sustainability by integrating nature and community-focused urban living.”
The site is 2,266 m2 (24,391 ft2) and currently home to a low-rise building that would be demolished under the plan. It is within the inner-city Stirling Precinct that features a mix of commercial, office, mixed-use, and residential developments.
The tower would promote “walkable green spaces and public amenities, enhancing social cohesion, community well-being, and environmental benefits,” the application said.
Erben has already undertaken pre-lodgment meetings, from which the building footprint was reduced and orientation modified.
