On Thursday, the US Department of Labor reported that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 226,000 for the week ending Saturday, June 13, a decrease of 4,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 230,000 (originally 229,000). The four-week moving average was 223,250—an increase of 4,000 from the prior week’s revised average of 219,250 (originally 219,000).
The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending June 6 was 1,810,000, an increase of 24,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,786,000 (originally 1,795,000). The four-week moving average was 1,788,000—an increase of 9,750 from the prior week’s revised average of 1,778,250 (originally 1,780,500).
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending June 6, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
