On Thursday, Freddie Mac released its Primary Mortgage Market Survey for the week ending Thursday, June 18.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.47%, down from 6.52% the previous week. A year ago at this time, the 30-year rate averaged 6.81%.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.81%, down from 5.84% last week. A year ago at this time, the 15-year rate averaged 5.96%.
Commenting on this week’s survey, Freddie Mac Chief Economist Sam Khater said:
“The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage decreased this week averaging 6.47%. Incoming data continues to reflect a resilient consumer, with retail sales improving, and pending home sales strengthening, suggesting purchase demand is continuing to modestly improve.”
