This is a decrease of 22,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 242,000. The 4-week moving average was 224,250—an increase of 1,250 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 224,250.
The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending December 7th was 1,874,000. This is a decrease of 5,000 from the previous week’s revised total of 1,879,000 (originally 1,886,000). The 4-week moving average was 1,880,250—a decrease of 6,000 from the previous week’s revised average of 1,886,250 (originally 1,888,000).
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending December 7th, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
