S&P Cotality Case-Shiller Index Reports 1.3% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in September
On Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices released the S&P Cotality Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index, formerly known as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices. Year-over-year, the Index posted a 1.3% gain in September, down from a 1.4% rise in August.
The 10-City Composite rose 2.0% annually, compared with a 2.1% increase in August. The 20-City Composite advanced 1.4% year-over-year, easing from a 1.6% rise the prior month.
Among the 20 cities, Chicago recorded the largest annual increase at 5.5%, followed by New York (5.2%) and Boston (4.1%). Tampa registered the weakest return with a 4.1% decline.
Before seasonal adjustment, the US National Index fell 0.3% month-over-month, while the 10-City and 20-City Composites each declined 0.5%.
After seasonal adjustment, the National Index rose 0.2% month-over-month, while the 10-City Composite also increased 0.2% and the 20-City Composite rose 0.1%.
