S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index Reports 4.1% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in January
On Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices released the results of its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index for January. The Index, covering all nine US census divisions, posted an annual gain of 4.1%, a slight increase from 4.0% in December.
The 10-City Composite recorded a 5.3% annual increase in January, up from 5.2% in the previous month, while the 20-City Composite rose 4.7%, compared to 4.5% in the prior month.
New York continued to lead the annual gains among the 20 cities, rising 7.7%, followed by Chicago (7.5%) and Boston (6.6%). Tampa posted the lowest return, declining 1.5%.
The pre-seasonally adjusted US National and 20-City Composite Indices showed slight upward trends, each increasing 0.1% in January. The 10-City Composite rose 0.2%.
After seasonal adjustment, both the 10-City and 20-City Composites saw month-over-month increases of 0.5%, while the US National Index rose 0.6%.
