FHFA House Price Index Posts 4.8% Annual Increase in January
On Tuesday, the US Federal Housing Finance Agency reported that according to its House Price Index, US home prices rose 0.2% in January. Year-over-year, prices increased 4.8%. The FHFA notes that the previously reported 0.4% growth in December has been revised to 0.5%.
For the nine census divisions, seasonally adjusted monthly home price changes ranged from a 0.8% decline in the South Atlantic division to a 1.0% increase in the West North Central division. The 12-month changes were all positive, ranging from an increase of 2.4% in the West South Central division to an 8.2% increase in the Middle Atlantic division.
